Gaudi - No Prisoners (Free Track Download)

New Gaudi Album features Michael Franti & other guests.
Out this Tuesday 3/23 on the Six Degrees label

No Prisoners is the latest project from the Italian-born, London-based artist/producer Gaudi.

Gaudi is know for creating a unique synthesis of dub, electronica and world music. No Prisoners is very different from the artist's previous releases, and definitely more uptempo; slamming breakbeats underpinned with fat basslines.

In the studio, Gaudi utilizes his beloved analog equipment - vintage synthesizers, tape echoes, Moog, as well as traditional instrumentation such as the Oud. No Prisoners also integrates live bass & guitar, percussion, melodica, highland bagpipes, and piano.

This combination of cutting edge digital gear, vintage analog synths and tape, and live instrumentation gives No Prisoners a distinctive warmth and authentic feel.

Standout guests on this dynamic album include reggae-rocker, activist (and Spearhead founder) Michael Franti on the excellent "There's Enough," and Brooklyn based reggae artist Dr Israel on "No Time."

Superstar Italian singer-songwriter Elisa guests on "Brainwashed Again." Jamaican vocalist Kenny Knots is featured on "Strictly Goodness." Additional guests include pioneering dub producer Dub Gabriel on "Barracudub"; UK Breakbeat duo Far Too Loud and emerging electro-breaks producer Tom Real; who contribute to "No More Blood" and "Bad Boy Bass" respectively.

Gaudi spent 2009 touring and rocking dancefloors across the planet with his unconventional, innovative performance style. His last album Dub Qawwali (also on the Six Degrees Records label) featured unreleased material by the revered Pakistani vocalist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Dub Qawwali was nominated for a BBC World Music Award. In the US, Dub Qawwali reached #2 on the iTunes World Chart and #1 on Amazon.com's Electronica charts.

Gaudi is also well-known in Italy as a coach and producer since 2008 for groups competing on Italy's version of The X Factor.

Gaudi will be touring the US in 2010. Confirmed dates include stops in Portland, OR (5/7/10) and Santa Cruz, CA ( 5/12/10), with several more US dates to be anounced soon.

Six Degrees just wrapped up a Remix contest for the song Bad Boy Bass in partnership with Generation Bass and Fairtilizer. The Contest drew over a tremendous response - with over 57 responses. A winner will be announced shortly, along with several additional remixes.

Pre-order the album now at Amazon and the Six Degrees Records Store ($2 off pre-orders).

Check Out The New BBC Store in Hong Kong

The new Hong Kong location for Pharrell's Billionaire Boys Club store is insane. It looks like a cross between Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory and a rocket ship!!

Alexa Chung Is The New Sienna Miller

...or so they say!
UK TV presenter Alexa Chung is making waves with her laid back British style and entourage of young hipster friends. The 24 year old former model and host of the UK television show "Pop World" is frequently photographed stumbling down the streets of London with her boyfriend, Alex Turner, singer for the Arctic Monkeys and her best friend Kelly Osbourne. Other members of her posse include members of The Like, Klaxons and, The Horrors.
Whoa. The UK press is so obsessed with her and what she's wearing, The Times of London even wrote a feature about her in their style section, dubbing her Britain's rising style star and the next Sienna Miller. Multiple fan sites have popped up as well, which teach Chung wannabes how to steal her style.
It appears that you don't have to do much to be considered an "It-Girl" these days... I am starting to feel a little left out.

Passionate Lifestyle eMag New Issue Out Now!

Eccentric French musician Sebastien Tellier has long been a fan of creative collaborations. While touring in support of his debut album "L'incroyable Vérité" he was joined on stage by world-renowned thereminist Pamelia Kurstin and his 2004 release "Politics" featured former Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen. Tellier's upcoming album is called "Sexuality" and the producers are none other than his good friends, electronic legends Daft Punk. Like all of Tellier's other releases, "Sexuality" will be put out by AIR's label, Record Makers and the first single, "Sexual Sportswear" has already dropped. The sound is quite a departure from Tellier's usual spacey pop but don't get me wrong, it's still trippy but in a different way. The sound is very ambient Daft Punk — much like the score of the duo's recent art house film "Electroma." Visit Seb's MySpace and stream "Sexual Sportswear" to hear it for yourself. Die hard fans should also check him out in the short film "Pink Cowboy Boots" costarring the lovely Rob from fellow French band Phoenix. - AL

Cartier at Art Basel

Cartier has always had a strong presence in the European contemporary art and culture scene but never became involved in its American counterpart. Until now that is. Cartier will be a major sponsor of Art Basel South Beach, one of the most important contemporary art events in the world. The jeweler will not only showcase special limited edition pieces made exclusively for the fair, but it will also hold its own VIP events in a dome shaped lounge designed by world-renowned French architect Jean Nouvel. Cartier's participation will surely enhance the Art Basel South Beach experience for many of this year's attendees. Hopefully Art Basel is just the beginning, and Cartier will continue to support art in America with their unique installations and events as they have in Europe.
